About Spellman Care
Our Values
At Spellman Care, we work hard to instil core values within the culture and personality of our Homes, and the teams who work there.
We believe in providing high quality care, designed specifically for each resident, and focusing on them enjoying every element of living in one of our Homes.
Living in a Spellman Care Home really is a home-from-home, and we work hard on our family-led culture so that all residents who join us feel welcomed and part of the community from when they arrive.
We believe that we are truly honoured to be entrusted with our resident’s care, and we want to treat them with kindness, dignity and compassion throughout their time within our care.
Digital Care Planning
Person Centred Software
At Spellman Care, we’re committed to providing the highest quality person centred care for our residents. That’s why we use Person Centred Software’s innovative digital care planning system. PCS equips our team with individual devices, giving them instant access to each resident’s most up-to-date preferences and care needs.
Whenever a team member records information on a resident’s care plan, such as a meal being eaten, medication being taken, or the resident going on a trip out, it’s automatically available for their colleagues to see. This real-time sharing ensures complete consistency and minimizes the risk of errors, promoting the safest and personalised possible care for our residents.
PCS enables us to go into great detail with our care planning, meaning we can deliver the very best person centred care. A residents care plan might include…
- I like Earl Grey tea.
- I enjoy gravy with my Sunday Roast, but like this to be in a separate jug on the side.
- I enjoy gardening and like to attend to the raised flower beds in the garden.
- I like to have my main meal in the dining room and my evening meal in my bedroom.
- I enjoy a glass of wine with my evening meal.
- I like to be clean-shaven and use an electronic razor.
- I like to visit the home’s hairdresser each week.

Our History
The Last Thirty Four Years...
Whilst our first home was founded 34 years ago, the story of Spellman Care dates back much further, starting with the construction of Springbank in Silsden.
Sometime in the 1870's, Waterloo Mills owner George Jacques commissioned the construction of Springbank, a grand family home in Silsden with large formal gardens.
On the 20th February 1989, work started on constructing our first home, Steeton Court.
By the 14th of June 1990, Steeton Court was ready to welcome it's first residents!
On the 9th July 2001, Ghyll Royd Nursing Home joined the Spellman Care family.
*Interesting Fact: Although long since demolished, similarly to Springbank Care Home, Ghyll Royd sits on the site of a former mill owners house.
The Spellman family acquired their third home on the 11th of February 2004.
The home had previously been a farmhouse, a pub and a nightclub, before being converted into a nursing home by it's former owner.
Soon after acquisition, work began to refurbish the Craven to bring it in line with the groups premium standards.
In 2015 Spellman Care acquired Springbank.
Since being built in the 1870's, the house had been run as a Nursing Home.
Upon acquisition, work began to transform the building into a modern residential care home, with great care taken to maintain the buildings it's historic features.
Transforming Springbank
Following an extensive refurbishment, Springbank Care Home welcomed it's first residents in October 2017.
In October 2022 we took delivery of 'The Spellman Express' (as it is known to residents)!
In 2023 we were proud to be 'Highly Commended' at the Stars of Social Care Awards in London, hosted by ITV This Morning Presenter Josie Gibson.
In 2023 Ghyll Royd Nursing Home opened it's brand new Residential Dementia Community, Blossom.
Ghyll Royd also changed it's name to Ghyll Royd Care Home to encompass the new community.
Our company was established in 1990 with the opening of Steeton Court Nursing Home. Our aim was to build a modern luxurious environment that felt like a home from home. We are a family business that has worked hard to ensure we have never lost sight of the values on which our business was founded. We are passionately dedicated to providing an outstanding quality of care and accommodation which enriches the lives of our residents.
In 2001 we opened Ghyll Royd Care Home, followed by Craven Nursing Home in 2004 and Springbank Residential Home in 2017. We are extremely proud of all our homes, and are constantly looking at ways to improve the environment and facilities to ensure our residents live in beautiful surroundings that they can really call Home.
