Spellman Care Team Celebrates Multiple National and Regional Award Nominations

Spellman Care is proud to announce it has recently been named a finalist in several prestigious award ceremonies, recognising both the organisation as a whole and the outstanding individuals who contribute to its success.

The nominations span four distinguished awards, highlighting excellence in various aspects of care, leadership, and business.

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, paying tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. Spellman Care has a strong presence at this year’s regional awards with an impressive five finalists, each recognised for their exceptional commitment to person-centred care. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 7th November at The Royal Armouries, Leeds.

  • The team at Craven Nursing Home is a finalist for The Palliative Carer / End of Life Award, recognised for their profound compassion in helping a resident fulfil a deeply personal wish to scatter his late brother’s ashes.
  • Eve Kelk, Head Chef at Springbank Care Home, has been named a finalist for the Care Home Cook / Chef Award.
  • Spellman Care is a finalist for two awards: The Care Employer Award, which highlights its commitment to staff wellbeing through its Wellbeing and Development Hub and proactive community initiatives like the Dementia Bus; and The 3 R’s Award, which celebrates its innovative approach to recruitment, retention, and recognition.
  • Kirstie and Sarah from The Steeton Court Nursing Home Activity Team are finalists for the Care Home Newcomer Award, having been recognised for bringing a vibrant passion and fresh ideas to the home.

The Social Care Leadership Awards were created to recognise and celebrate the very best leaders, managers, and aspiring leaders within the social care sector. Spellman Care is proud to have two finalists who embody the highest standards of care leadership. The category winners will be announced at the Gala Awards on 21st October at the London Marriott Hotel.

  • Philippa Young has been shortlisted for the Dementia Care Leader Award for her dynamic and passionate leadership, including her unique expertise as a Dementia Care Mapper and her innovative projects.
  • Rachael Houldsworth is a finalist for The Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to her remarkable 35-year career at Steeton Court Nursing Home where she has been a foundational pillar, shaping its compassionate culture and earning consistently positive feedback from families.

The Keighley and Airedale Business Awards celebrate the very best in the local business community, recognising the hard work and dedication of businesses in the region. Following its win for Independent/Family Business of the Year last year, Spellman Care is once again a finalist, this time for the Health & Wellbeing Business of the Year award. The nomination celebrates the company’s widespread success, underscored by over 200 five-star reviews on CareHome.co.uk, its strong community connections through initiatives like the Veterans Cafes, and its commitment to professional growth. The black-tie ceremony will be held this Friday, 26th September 2025, at Victoria Hall, Keighley, with Paul Hudson from BBC Look North hosting the evening.

The Nursing Times Workforce Awards recognise and reward the best employers and workplaces in the nursing and care sector. Spellman Care has also received national recognition with a finalist spot at the Nursing Times Awards 2025 for the Best Social Responsibility Programme. The awards will be held on Wednesday, 26 November at the Hilton London Metropole.
