Spellman Care to Host ‘Wall of Hearts’ Memorial Weekend for COVID-19 Day of Reflection

Spellman Care is inviting the local community to join them in a special weekend of remembrance to mark the official COVID-19 Day of Reflection. In a heartfelt tribute to those lost during the pandemic, the four care homes across the region will feature ‘Walls of Hearts’ where residents, staff, and families past and present can share personal messages of love and memory.

Recognising that this remains a deeply poignant time for many, Spellman Care has extended the event across the entire weekend of Saturday 7th March and Sunday 8th March. This ensures that everyone in the community has the opportunity to take a quiet moment for themselves and their loved ones.

To make participation as accessible and comfortable as possible, the memorials will be situated by the main entrances of the homes, using both sides of the glass to make sure they are accessible without having to come into the home. Visitors are encouraged to drop in at any time over the weekend to write a name or a message on a paper heart and attach it directly to the window.

“We look forward to coming together in kindness, sharing memories, and celebrating the lasting connections that unite us all,” said a spokesperson for Spellman Care. “By placing these memorials by our front doors, we hope to allow everyone to participate in a way that feels most comfortable for them.”

The ‘Wall of Hearts’ memorial will be available at the following locations on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March:

  • Craven Nursing Home
  • Ghyll Royd Care Home
  • Springbank Care Home
  • Steeton Court Nursing Home

Members of the public are welcome to visit at any time throughout the weekend to add their tributes to the growing display of remembrance and solidarity.
