We are incredibly proud to announce that Steeton Court Nursing Home has been nominated for the 2024 Yorkshire Choice Awards.
Steeton Court was nominated for the ‘Community Arts Award’, for its work supporting residents in their artistic interests.
Last year, one resident revealed their passion for photography, having previously had their images published in local papers.
After discovering this, the team hosted a photography tour on the home minibus, visiting museums, railways, the Lancashire countryside and the Yorkshire Dales to take photos.
Over the course of several weeks, the resident built up a new library of photos, with the team submitting each one to local papers to be published once again.
Steeton Court is also home to several passionate artists, who meet several times a week to paint, colour, sketch and draw.
Alison Grice, Home Manager at Steeton Court said… “I’m incredibly proud to hear that Steeton Court has been nominated for this award. Art is a great way for residents to look after their mental health and is known to provide pleasure and reduce anxiety for those living with dementia.”
The Yorkshire Choice Award finalists and winners will be announced on the 7th June at a prestigious gala dinner in Leeds.
