Spellman Care Expresses Deep Gratitude After Phenomenal Success of The Clothing Bank Appeal

Following an extraordinary wave of generosity from across the region, family-run care provider Spellman Care has officially concluded its latest community initiative, successfully collecting enough quality pre-loved items to fill an entire transit van and the majority of a second.

The collection, which ran across all four Spellman Care homes, saw neighbours, families, and staff donate a substantial amount of clothing during their spring clear-outs. The response was so overwhelming that the group’s own minibus was insufficient to transport the sheer volume of bags, requiring a large transit van to complete the first major handover. A second delivery is already being prepared to be dropped off later this week following the official closure of the appeal.

The Clothing Bank is a vital charity operating across Yorkshire and beyond, dedicated to tackling clothing poverty. Since its formation in 2020, the organization has flourished into an incredible network, providing essential garments to over 20,000 individuals and families facing financial hardship or crisis. By supplying seven days’ worth of clothing—including essential underwear—the charity works tirelessly to ensure that anyone struggling has access to basic needs. Their work provides more than just garments; it restores confidence, offers comfort, and brings dignity to people going through exceptionally difficult times.

Philippa Young, Group Operations Manager at Spellman Care, commented on the staggering success:

“We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to the Spellman Care clothing appeal. Your kindness and generosity have truly overwhelmed us, and it is wonderful to see our community come together once again to support such a vital cause.

“A huge thank you must also go to Dave from The Clothing Bank for coming out to do a last-minute collection, and to the hardworking teams at our homes who have been busy moving and storing bags of clothes to make sure everything was ready. Their efforts really do make a massive difference to so many people.”

Donations were collected at collection points within Craven Nursing Home (Skipton), Ghyll Royd Care Home (Guiseley), Springbank Care Home (Silsden), and Steeton Court Nursing Home (Steeton).

This project is part of an established tradition of community-led giving at Spellman Care. The care home group regularly partners with vital causes to harness the power of local community spirit. Earlier this year, their Easter Appeal concluded with a full car boot of chocolate eggs successfully delivered to patients at Airedale Hospital. Furthermore, the group has a rich history of charitable support, including their record-breaking annual Christmas Giving campaigns and previous handbag collections for the “Love Grace” appeal, which supports women affected by domestic abuse.

With the clothing appeal now wrapped up, plans are already well underway for Spellman Care’s next community initiative. Members of the public, families, and local residents are encouraged to follow the official Spellman Care Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/spellmancare/ to stay up to date with upcoming projects, events, and announcements.
