Spellman Care is celebrating a double success after two of its homes were named finalists in the national Palliative & End of Life Care Awards, recognising their outstanding commitment to delivering compassionate, person-led support to residents and families at the most important of times.
Springbank Care Home and Ghyll Royd Care Home have both reached the final for the same core reason: the exceptional quality of their palliative and end-of-life care. Their nominations reflect a shared commitment to dignity, compassion and excellence, with both homes creating supportive environments where residents and loved ones are cared for with empathy, sensitivity and respect.
Springbank Care Home has been shortlisted for The Palliative Residential Care Provider Award, while Ghyll Royd Care Home has been shortlisted for The Palliative Nursing Home Provider Award.
The Palliative & End of Life Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, recognising teams and organisations that make a meaningful difference to people and their families during life’s final stages.
Both homes were nominated for combining high standards of clinical care with a deeply compassionate, family-focused approach. Springbank Care Home and Ghyll Royd Care Home both hold the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation, reflecting the specialist expertise and consistent commitment to high-quality end-of-life care embedded across both services. Building on this success, Spellman Care’s remaining two homes, Craven Nursing Home and Steeton Court Nursing Home, are now progressing towards their own GSF accreditation as part of phase two of the group’s commitment, further strengthening the group’s excellence in end-of-life care. Across each home, this commitment can be seen in the thoughtful, practical and emotional support offered to residents and families, including initiatives such as Family Comfort Trolleys, which help loved ones remain close and comfortable during difficult moments.
Home managers at both finalist homes said the recognition reflects the dedication of their teams and the importance they place on supporting residents and families with warmth, reassurance and dignity.
“We are incredibly proud that Springbank has reached the final in recognition of the care, compassion and dignity our team strives to deliver every day. Supporting residents and their families at the end of life is a privilege, and this acknowledgement reflects the dedication of the whole team to making those moments as peaceful, personal and comforting as possible.”— Lisa Pickles, Home Manager, Springbank Care Home
“To see Ghyll Royd recognised as a finalist is a real honour and a testament to the kindness, professionalism and compassion shown by our team. We work hard to ensure that every resident and every family feels cared for, listened to and supported, and it means so much to have that recognised at a national level.”— Robee Gelido, Home Manager, Ghyll Royd Care Home
The double shortlisting is a proud moment for Spellman Care and reflects the organisation’s continued focus on delivering outstanding end-of-life care across its homes, ensuring every resident is supported with dignity, comfort and compassion.
