On Saturday 19th August the residents of Springbank Care Home in Silsden gathered for their first post-covid Summer Fete.
This year’s theme was ‘Country & Western’, with residents, guests and staff members all dressing up for the occasion!
The highlight of the event was a performance by a local volunteer line dancing group! Everyone headed outside to the front lawn to watch, with the 18th century building making the perfect backdrop for the entertainment. At the end of the performance, residents, guests and staff were all invited to join for a group finale.
Lisa Noble, Registered Manager said… “This year Springbank’s Summer Fete was a real show stopper for all the Residents, Families, Friends, the Local Community and Staff. The sun was shining making our picturesque grounds the perfect back drop for the nonstop entertainment from the local Volunteer Line dancers. Our chefs also created mouthwatering masterpieces to complement the theme.
Thanks to our creative activity co-ordinators, we also raised over £180 for the local Thursday Club at Silsden Methodist Church, which is staffed by volunteers and welcome our residents every week.”
A family member of the home commented… “Clearly, such a lot of thought and preparation had gone into the event and it seemed that residents and visitors alike enjoyed the afternoon enormously. It was wonderful to see so many of the elderly residents, mum included, tapping their feet and singing along to the tunes! The line dancing was very entertaining and most enjoyable to watch.
We especially appreciated chatting to some of the other Springbank residents and a special mention must go to the wonderful George who regaled many tales of his former life in Berwick-upon-Tweed – we even bought a signed copy of his book!
Special thanks to the kitchen staff, especially whoever made the delicious lemon cake and coffee cake – outstanding!”
