Welcome to Ghyll Royd Care Home

An Introduction...

Acquired by Tony Spellman in 2001, Ghyll Royd became the second home to be operated by the Spellman family, carrying forward our dedication to creating a truly welcoming environment.

Situated in the desirable Aireborough town of Guiseley, the Home is celebrated for its ideal balance of convenient location and peaceful surroundings.

The Home is well-situated near local shopping centres and the excellent transport links of Guiseley Station, making it a preferred option for residents from Guiseley, Yeadon, Rawdon, Horsforth, Ilkley, and the wider Leeds area.

Ghyll Royd benefits from exceptional natural access, being close to the stunning beauty of Nunroyd Park and Esholt Woods. The grounds themselves are surrounded by trees and woodland, where you can regularly spot squirrels running across the lawn, along with the occasional deer—contributing to the Home’s calm and tranquil atmosphere.

In 2023, Ghyll Royd marked a pioneering achievement by becoming the first Spellman Care home to offer both residential and nursing care under one roof with the launch of the Blossom Residential Dementia Community. This development allows us to provide truly flexible, person-centred care as residents’ needs change.

To ensure seamless continuity for our residents, the Dementia Residential Community and Dementia Nursing Community are ideally situated directly above and below one another. They offer residents an identical environment on both floors, meaning someone with dementia can rest assured that if their needs develop, they can stay settled in a familiar setting when moving from Dementia Residential to Dementia Nursing care.

The Care We Offer...

Ghyll Royd is divided into four thoughtfully designed communities—Willow, Rowan, Beech, and Blossom—with each area fostering a safe and positive environment. Our commitment is to ensure the transition to care is as comfortable as possible, supported by our homely atmosphere.

All our bedrooms feature en-suite lavatories and a high-quality, stylish finish. Residents are strongly encouraged to personalise their rooms to ensure their space truly feels like a home from home. Our communal areas are bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed to encourage comfort and social interaction.

What Our Regulators Say...

Meet Robee, our Home Manager...

My nursing career began back in 2010 in the Philippines. Before moving into hands-on care, I worked for a multinational company handling vaccines for both the public and private sectors. That experience taught me the importance of being dependable and precise; qualities I carry with me every day here at Ghyll Royd.

I first joined the Ghyll Royd family in June 2022 as a Senior Carer. After passing my OSCE in October that year, I jumped straight into life as a Staff Nurse, working both day and night shifts to get to know our residents inside and out. I was proud to be promoted to Unit Manager of Beech in November 2023, and it was a true honour to progress to the role of Home Manager.

I take great pride in upholding our core values of Kindness, Dignity, and Compassion. To me, providing exceptional care means maintaining a service that is modern, proactive, and forward-thinking. Transparency is at the heart of everything we do; I believe it is vital that relatives are always kept fully up-to-date with the status of their loved ones, ensuring peace of mind for the whole family.

I am also incredibly keen to build strong connections within our local community. My goal is to support all those who need it, including those who may not yet be residents at Ghyll Royd. I believe that if someone is already familiar with our home and our team, it makes for a much more comfortable and seamless transition should they ever need to move in. I have always believed in “changing for the better” and I view any setbacks simply as lessons to learn from. Ultimately, I strive to be a reliable, steady hand for our residents and their families.

On my days off, I’m all about balance. I love spending time with my family, hitting the gym, or playing a game of basketball. I’m also a student of Stoicism and enjoy a bit of investing. I find that the discipline I use in my hobbies helps me stay focused and calm in my professional life, too!
