Spellman Care Launches Next Community Appeal Following Easter Success

Spellman Care has officially launched its next community initiative: a Clothing Bank Appeal, encouraging local people to drop off quality pre-loved items during their spring cleaning. This follows the heartwarming conclusion of their recent Easter Appeal, which saw a full car boot of chocolate eggs donated to patients at Airedale Hospital at the end of March.

For this latest appeal, Spellman Care homes are serving as official collection points for the charity ‘The Clothing Bank’. The initiative aims to gather essential garments for the charity to distribute to individuals and families who may be struggling to afford quality clothing. Items being sought include children’s wear from newborn upwards, adult clothing, school clothing, smart work attire, and outdoor gear. Notably, The Clothing Bank is currently in most need of items for those aged 18 and 19.

The Clothing Bank is a charity dedicated to tackling clothing poverty across the UK. By collecting and redistributing donated clothes, the organisation supports individuals and families who are unable to afford basic clothing needs due to financial hardship or crisis. Their work provides more than just garments; it offers confidence and dignity to those going through difficult times.

Philippa Young, Group Operations Manager at Spellman Care, commented:

“We were absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness shown during our Easter egg collection, and it’s clear that our local community has a huge heart. As many of us begin our spring clear-outs, we hope people will consider bringing their unwanted quality clothes to our collection points. By partnering with The Clothing Bank, we want to channel that community energy into providing practical support for those who need it most. Every donation makes a real impact.”

Donations are being accepted at the collection points within Craven Nursing Home (Skipton), Ghyll Royd Care Home (Guiseley), Springbank Care Home (Silsden), and Steeton Court Nursing Home (Steeton).

To maintain the dignity of recipients, the homes request that all items are in good condition. Stained clothing, used underwear, and used bedding cannot be accepted.

The final date for donations is 15th May 2026. Members of the public are encouraged to visit their nearest Spellman Care home to drop off their contributions and support this vital cause.
