Leading Yorkshire care provider, Spellman Care, is delighted to announce its full participation in Care Home Open Week, commencing today, Monday, 16th June. Craven Nursing Home, Ghyll Royd Care Home, Springbank Care Home, and Steeton Court Nursing Home are warmly opening their doors for a vibrant week of shared activities, inviting local residents, families, and professionals to step inside and connect with their communities.
Care Home Open Week, an initiative spearheaded by Championing Social Care, serves as a fantastic opportunity for care homes and their local communities to come together, fostering greater understanding and connection. Throughout the week, Spellman Care’s homes will host a diverse programme of events, encouraging everyone to participate, interact, and experience the warm, inclusive atmosphere firsthand. This is a chance for neighbours to get to know their local care home, build relationships, and enjoy a variety of engaging activities together.
A particular highlight this week will be the 6th iteration of the popular Veterans Cafe, marking the first of our summer series. This special event will take place this Thursday, 19th June, from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM at Ghyll Royd Care Home. All veterans and their families are warmly encouraged to join us for an afternoon of camaraderie and conversation. The previous Veterans Cafe, held at Steeton Court Nursing Home, saw the valued attendance of Robbie Moore MP for Keighley and Ilkley, underscoring the strong community ties these gatherings foster.
“We are absolutely thrilled to kick off Care Home Open Week today by simply opening our doors and inviting everyone in,” says Philippa Young, Operations Manager at Spellman Care. “This week is truly about strengthening our connections with the local community, welcoming new faces, and sharing the vibrant life within our homes. We believe in being active, integrated parts of our neighbourhoods, and we can’t wait for people to join us, participate in our activities, and experience the warmth and spirit of our communities for themselves.”
Full activity schedules for each of Spellman Care’s homes are available, detailing the diverse range of events planned throughout the week.
