Spellman Care is delighted to announce that it has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Independent Business of the Year’ category at the 2026 Yorkshire Choice Awards. This recognition highlights the group’s long-standing commitment to the Yorkshire community and its dedication to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
Established in February 1990 with the opening of Steeton Court Nursing Home, Spellman Care has built a history of almost 36 years as a family-run provider. Throughout these decades, the group has remained proudly independent and run by the Spellman family, growing into a group of four homes, including Ghyll Royd Care Home, Craven Nursing Home, and Springbank Care Home. This independence allows the group to maintain a personal, “home from home” environment for all residents.
While the group has a long-standing presence in the region, the last five years have seen the business formalise its guiding pillars of Kindness, Dignity, and Compassion. These core values ensure that the high standards of care established over the decades continue to evolve to meet the needs of every resident.
