Spellman Care Celebrates Professional Success as Robee Gelido Appointed Ghyll Royd Home Manager

Ghyll Royd Care Home is proud to announce the appointment of Robee Gelido as its new Home Manager. As a family-run company, Spellman Care is delighted to see such a dedicated and cherished member of the Ghyll Royd family step into this leadership role. This appointment marks a vibrant new chapter for the home, building upon Ghyll Royd’s long-standing reputation for putting residents at the heart of everything they do.

Robee’s vision for Ghyll Royd is to further enhance the home’s established “residents-first” philosophy by deepening its roots within the local community. While Ghyll Royd has always been a warm and welcoming hub, Robee aims to expand these connections even further into the heart of Guiseley and Yeadon. By opening doors to local groups and nurturing ties with neighbours, he intends to create even more meaningful opportunities for residents to engage with the local area. This includes enriching the home’s vibrant schedule with new collaborative activities, guest talks, and social links with visiting volunteers, ensuring residents continue to feel active, valued, and connected.

Robee’s journey is a shining example of the professional growth nurtured within the Spellman Care family. Joining the team in June 2022 from the Philippines, Robee arrived as part of the group’s highly successful international recruitment programme. Starting as a Senior Care Assistant, his hard work and clinical dedication saw him progress to Registered Nurse and subsequently Unit Manager of Beech, the home’s specialist dementia community.

The success of this programme has not only allowed Robee to thrive but has enabled many international colleagues to build fulfilling careers and personal lives, with many starting families and establishing permanent homes in the UK. For the residents of Ghyll Royd, this success directly translates to a dedicated, permanent team with minimal to no reliance on agency staff. This stability ensures that residents continue to receive the consistent, person-centred care they deserve from a team that truly knows them and feels like family.

The news of Robee’s appointment has been met with an outpouring of warmth from those who matter most. Following a video introduction on social media, residents and relatives were quick to share their support, describing him as a “Star” and his promotion as “well-deserved.”

Support has also come from across the Spellman Care group. Stephanie Bowers, Home Manager at Craven Nursing Home, shared: “Well done Robee! So proud—we’re here at Craven Nursing Home if you need us, you have our full support!”

“I am so honoured to lead the incredible team here at Ghyll Royd,” says Robee Gelido, Home Manager. “My goal is to be a reliable, steady hand for our residents and their families. At Ghyll Royd, our residents have always come first, and I am committed to upholding that standard every single day. I believe in maintaining a service that is modern and proactive, but most importantly, transparent. I am incredibly keen to build even stronger connections within our local community so that everyone—whether they are a current resident or a neighbour—feels supported and at home here.”

Robee is already putting his vision into action; he was delighted to attend the Memory Lane Day Centre’s 10th Birthday celebrations today, with exciting plans already in motion to collaborate on community projects in the coming months. He is also spearheading plans for Ghyll Royd to host a dedicated Dementia Training Session, helping local businesses become ‘Dementia Friendly’ and strengthening the support network across the area.

Local companies or individuals who would like to say hello, discuss collaborative ideas, or get involved with their local care home are encouraged to contact Robee directly at manager@ghyllroydcarehome.co.uk.

“As a family-run company, we are so proud of Robee’s dedication,” says Steven Spellman, Director of Spellman Care. “Our recruitment initiative was designed to find the very best talent and provide the support needed to flourish. Robee’s journey from Senior Carer to Home Manager is a testament to how this programme allows staff to develop their professional training and build a lasting career with us, all while maintaining the highest standard of care for our residents.”

To meet the community personally, Robee will host his first ‘Resident and Relative’ meeting this Thursday, 19th March. With an ‘Open Door Policy,’ he also welcomes any members of the Ghyll Royd family to come forward at any time with ideas, questions, or just a friendly hello.
