Steeton Court Nursing Home is delighted to announce the upcoming launch of its very first Secret Christmas Shop, bringing an extra touch of magic, autonomy, and festive excitement to the home this Christmas.
Designed as a warm and peaceful corner within the home, the Secret Christmas Shop will offer residents a truly meaningful way to maintain their independence. With discreet, support from the care team, residents can visit the shop to personally browse and select gifts for their loved ones, before wrapping them up ready to place under the tree.
Person-led care is at the very heart of everything Spellman Care does, and this wonderful initiative ensures that the festive period remains as personal and independent as possible, allowing residents to experience the joy of giving thoughtful presents to their families, just as they always have.
To bring this magical pop-up shop to life, Steeton Court Nursing Home is now calling on the kind-hearted local community for support. The home is currently collecting a wide variety of gifts and wrapping paper to stock the shelves. Whether it is cozy socks, scarves, chocolates, games, novelty gifts, handmade crafts, or any other small present, every single donation will help make this initiative a success for the residents.
Group Operations Manager Philippa Young, who introduced the idea to the home, shared her excitement:
“Christmas is a time for family, thought, and connection. We wanted to create an experience that keeps our residents completely at the heart of the festive giving process, empowering them to choose gifts for their loved ones independently. We are so excited to launch our very first Secret Christmas Shop, and we would be endlessly grateful for any support from our wonderful local community in helping us gather gifts and wrapping paper to stock our shelves.”
Members of the public who would like to support the Secret Christmas Shop are warmly invited to pop into the home just off Station Road in Steeton to drop off donations of gifts or wrapping paper.
