Yorkshire care provider expands annual festive drive to collect gifts for both ‘Christmas Yay!’ and elderly patients at Airedale Hospital, continuing a proud 6-year legacy of community giving.
Local care provider Spellman Care has officially unwrapped its 2026 Annual Christmas Appeal, bringing double the festive cheer to the region this Christmas. In an exciting first for the family-run group, Spellman Care is joining forces with not one, but two incredible local charities to ensure adults and elderly hospital patients across the community have a bright, joyful Christmas Day.
Faced with two deeply moving causes, the care group, which operates four residential and nursing homes across Yorkshire, simply couldn’t choose between them, deciding instead to double its giving and collect gift donations for both ‘Christmas Yay!’ by Missing Peace Wellbeing + Support and the Airedale Hospital & Community Charity Appeal.
The ‘Christmas Yay!’ initiative by Missing Peace Wellbeing + Support creates a festive sanctuary on 25th December, providing a delicious Christmas dinner, drinks, and warm companionship for local adults who would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. Spellman Care’s collection drive will help the charity make sure that every single attendee has a beautifully wrapped gift waiting for them at the event.
Alongside this, Spellman Care is rekindling its partnership with the Airedale Hospital & Community Charity Appeal, having previously supported the initiative in 2024. While the hospital charity’s broader appeal collects gifts for all age groups, Spellman Care is placing a special focus this year on gathering gifts dedicated specifically to elderly patients spending Christmas on hospital wards, bringing comfort, festive cheer, and a touch of home to those away from their families over the holiday period.
“Christmas is all about warmth, togetherness, and community spirit, and we are beyond thrilled to be supporting two such heart-warming causes this year,” said Group Operations Manager Philippa Young. “At Spellman Care, our core values of Kindness, Dignity and Compassion guide everything we do, and we firmly believe that ‘The Little Things are the Big Things’. A thoughtful gift can be a little thing that makes a big difference, reminding someone they are valued and remembered at Christmas. Having supported the wonderful team at Airedale Hospital in 2024, we know firsthand just how much a festive gift means to someone spending Christmas Day in a hospital bed. Combining that with the vital work of ‘Christmas Yay!’ means we can spread twice as much festive magic! We are calling on our incredible residents, relatives, staff, and amazing local neighbours to help us fill our collection boxes to the brim.”
This year marks the sixth consecutive year of Spellman Care’s Christmas Giving initiative, building on a proud tradition of supporting those in need across Yorkshire.
Beyond its annual festive drives, Spellman Care actively supports a wide range of charitable initiatives throughout the year. Most recently, throughout October, the four homes rallied together for the Keighley Lions Group ‘Recycle for Sight’ appeal, collecting pairs of used spectacles to be restored and sent overseas to improve vision in developing communities.
Last year’s 2025 campaign saw record-breaking generosity during the group’s Secret Santa Appeal, culminating in Spellman Care’s team loading up a minibus packed to the brim with unwrapped presents and delivering them directly to Bradford City Centre in time for Christmas morning.
Members of the public, local businesses, school groups, and care home relatives are all warmly invited to drop off new, unwrapped gift donations at any of Spellman Care’s four homes between now and 10th December. Festive treats such as chocolates, luxury biscuits, games, cosy socks, scarves, gloves, and pampering gift sets all make ideal presents, though please note that alcohol donations cannot be accepted.
